I am excited as each step in this journey has been really emotional...some good and some not....but,
Last week, Wednesday, July 9, the girls were talking to Aleks and playing with their cell phones. Aleks had one of the girl's phones and made a phone call. Kristen asked him who he called? He just looked at her and said, "I just called dad"...then quickly changed it to "I mean, Kevin." To me, that was a small breakthrough!
On Sunday, July 12, my sister asked Aleks if he had seen my nephew, Ethan. Aleks looked at her and said, "I think he is with mom."
Tonight, at the dinner table, we were together with friends of Rachel's, Reghan and Avery. Aleks told them to watch a video he had made of me last night. He said to them, "watch mom, she is funny."
So, when he is talking to others, he is referring to Kevin and I as mom and dad...at least some of the time.
That is exciting to me...

I love watching his progress. How comfortable he is becoming with life here. He can feel the love and acceptance and it shows - on his face and in his actions. This is surely an exciting journey so far!
